# Install Anilife on Android and TV

> Install the correct signed Anilife APK on a phone, tablet, Android TV, Google TV, or Fire TV and complete the first-launch checks.

Install Anilife from the project's GitHub Releases page, then choose the APK that matches your device and form factor. Android 5.1 and compatible Fire OS 5 devices are supported.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Download Anilife only from the [official GitHub Releases page](https://github.com/anilifecommunity/android-and-tv/releases). Builds from other sources are not supported.

**1. Open the latest release**

Open the [Anilife releases](https://github.com/anilifecommunity/android-and-tv/releases). A release marked **Pre-release** is intended for testers.

**2. Choose the APK**

Use a phone/tablet APK for touch devices and a TV APK for Android TV, Google TV, or Fire TV. The universal APK is the safest choice when you do not know the device architecture.

**3. Allow this installation**

Open the downloaded APK. If Android blocks it, allow installs from the browser or file manager you used, then return to the APK. Keep the permission limited to that app.

**4. Launch and check navigation**

On a phone or tablet, confirm touch navigation works. On a TV, confirm the directional pad can reach the main navigation, Settings, and playback controls.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Anilife uses the package name `io.github.anilifecommunity.anilife`. It installs separately from older apps that used `com.miruronative`, so those apps cannot update into Anilife or share private app data automatically.

If you are moving from an older app, export a backup there first. Keep the old installation until you have imported the backup into Anilife and checked the restored data.
